Introduction
Ferulic Acid, first found in the seeds and leaves of plants, is a phenolic acid that is widely found in the plant body. It binds with polysaccharides and proteins in the cell wall to form the cell wall skeleton, and rarely exists in the free form. It is found in high concentrations in traditional Chinese medicines, such as Ferula officinalis, Shengma, Danggui, and Zaojuban, and is one of the active ingredients in these medicines.
Function
Ferulic Acid can also scavenge free radicals, promote the production of free radical scavenging enzymes, increase the activity of glutathione transsulfatase and quinone reductase, and inhibit tyrosinase activity to regulate human physiological functions, and is widely used in medicine and cosmetics. Ferulic Acid can be used as a medicine with anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-thrombotic, anti-UV radiation, anti-free radical and human immune function. Ferulic Acid is mainly used clinically for the treatment of coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, vasculitis, leukopenia and thrombocytopenia.
Application
As a cosmetic ingredient
Ferulic acid can enter the body by transdermal absorption, and the permeation coefficient is positively correlated with the concentration. This allows ferulic acid to exert skin care effects by application. The skin care effects of ferulic acid are mainly in 4 areas: 1) antioxidant; 2) sunscreen; 3) whitening; 4) anti-inflammatory.
