Introduction Of Slippery Elm Bark Powder
The raw material of slippery elm bark powder comes from white elm (Ulmus pumila L.), a deciduous tree of the genus Ulmus in the family Ulmaceae. The tree can grow up to 25 meters tall with a DBH (diameter at breast height) of 1 meter; in dry and barren areas, it usually grows into a shrub. The bark of young white elm trees is smooth, showing grayish-brown or grayish color; the bark of mature large trees turns dark gray, with irregular deep lobes and a rough texture.
The processing raw material of this product is the dry bark or root bark of white elm. In terms of medicinal properties, the dry bark is mostly in the form of long and slightly twisted plates, or slightly rolled inward on both sides, with varying lengths and widths and a thickness of 1–3 mm. Its outer surface is yellowish white or nearly white, with a few brown spots, relatively flat, accompanied by longitudinal cracks and a small amount of fibers; the inner surface is yellowish white or grayish white and smooth. The texture of the bark is light and tough, with a faint odor and a slightly sweet taste. The premium grade of raw bark is selected by the standard of dry body, white color and thick texture.
Slippery Elm Bark Powder is made by grinding the qualified dry white elm bark into fine powder. In traditional application, it can be used to alleviate heat virus disease, cold and other symptoms.
