
Introduction of Gastradia Elata Extract
Gastrodia elata Extract is a fine brownish-yellow powdery substance extracted from the dried tubers of Gastrodia elata Blume, family Orchidaceae. It is oval or long, slightly flat, wrinkled and slightly curved, 3-15cm long, 1.5-6cm wide, 0.5-2cm thick, yellowish-white to yellowish-brown surface, with links, a little bit of trace points or membranous scaly leaves, and sometimes see the brown mycelium, and the whole more longitudinal wrinkles. Containing asparagine (i.e., p-hydroxybenzyl alcohol – β-D glucopyranoside, Gastrodin), and p-hydroxybenzyl alcohol, p-hydroxybenzaldehyde, succinic acid, aristolochic acid, bis ether, β-sitosterol and so on. Trace elements include nickel, lithium, rubidium, chromium, manganese, zinc and copper.
Function of Gastradia Elata Extract
(1) Sedation: Tianma extract can counteract the central excitatory effect caused by caffeine. Can significantly antagonize pentylenetetrazol-induced convulsions, prolong the latency period of convulsions, reduce mortality or increase the amount of half-convulsions. Aspalathin can significantly reduce the role of glutamate (excitatory amino acids), reduce the glutamate-induced lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) leakage and neuronal cell mortality.
